Circles

Good morning, it's terrific Tuesday and time to share another pattern motif.

Today it's a circle motif made using recycled yarn and treble stitch.

The pattern is available on both dannycatcrochet.com and on Ravelry

For this pattern, I have continued with my theme of using the treble stitch. In addition, I have started to experiment with recycled yarn. The yarn is Stylecraft Recreate DK 100% Recycled yarn, 40% Wool, 30% Acrylic and 30% Polyester.

The yarn has a soft texture and provides beautiful stitch definition with the bonus of subtle specks of colour, perfect for garments and accessories. I found that a 4 mm hook gave the correct tension.

The circle motif is one of the samples I have been working on for Part 2 of my International Diploma in Crochet.  It was designed to be used as a plant pot mat but could also be part of a garment e.g a beret.

Over the past few weeks I have lived and breathed circles! For some reason, I just couldn't stop my circles looking like hexagons ๐Ÿ˜ž.

However, I persevered and realised the importance of:

  • staggering my increases
  • increasing the same number of stitches on each round (Round 1- 12 stitches, Round 2- 24 stitches etc)

I am really pleased with the result and feel proud that I managed to avoid frilling, buckling or a bowl shape. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Hope you enjoy my crochet motif pattern, I have included a written and a chart pattern on the pdf for your reference.

I would love to hear from you, so please feel free to leave a comment.

Cheers

Diamonds really are a girl's best friend

Happy New Year ๐Ÿ˜ƒ ๐ŸŽ‡๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿธ, hope you have all managed to find some time to enjoy some crochet during the Christmas period.

Today I'm sharing my gorgeous Diamond Motif pattern. Diamonds really are a girl’s best friend.

The pattern is available on both dannycatcrochet.com and on Ravelry

For this pattern, I have continued with my theme of using the treble stitch, with the addition of a central grid pattern to provide interest.

The motif is one of the samples I have been working on for Part 2 of my International Diploma in Crochet.  It was designed to be used as either part of a small throw, cushion or sweater.

The yarn used is Scheepjes 100% acrylic double knitting. This yarn is beautifully soft and anti-piling, and is therefore often used for motifs, clothing or home decor items. The colour is vibrant and has an autumnal feel. It would be well placed with earthy colours (browns, reds, oranges and greens).

The 4 mm hook was recommended on the yarn label.

Hope you enjoy my diamond motif pattern.

Right-Angled Triangle Pattern

Happy Friday ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Today I'm sharing my gorgeous Right-Angled Triangle Motif. The pattern is available on dannycatcrochet.com and on Ravelry.

For this pattern, treble stitch remains my focus, as it's such a soothing, adaptable stitch, however, in this pattern it is single trebles rather grouped trebles.

The right-angled triangle  motif is the last  of three triangles I have recently been working on  for Part 2 of my International Diploma in Crochet  Again, it was  designed to be used as either part of a small throw or cushion.

The yarn used is Stylecraft 100% acrylic double knitting. The yarn is both durable and safe to put in the washing machine. It is ideal for household items that sustain a lot of use.

The hook size 4 mm chosen was recommended on the yarn label.

The complementary colours used are Violet and clematis (purple and pink).  Nature provided the inspiration, notably the colour of fuchsias that beautifully adorn many Summer gardens.

Hope you have enjoyed my trilogy of triangles.

Today I'm sharing my fabulous Equilateral Triangle Motif. The pattern is available on dannycatcrochet.com and on Ravelry.

For this pattern, I have continued with the treble stitch, one of my all time, 'go to' crochet stitches.

Isosceles Triangle Pattern

Morning, happy Saturday to you all ๐Ÿ˜€

Today I am sharing my latest pattern, an Isosceles triangle motif which was a joy to crochet.  The pattern is available on dannycatcrochet.com and also on Ravelry.

The treble stitch is one of the first stitches I learnt as a child.I remember that granny squares were very fashionable at the time. I find the treble stitch soothing, providing a natural rhythm that makes me feel relaxed. I am sure you can all identify with this feeling.

The Isosceles triangle  motif is one of three triangles I have recently been working on (more to follow) and is designed to be used as either part of a small throw, cushion or bunting.

The yarn used is Stylecraft 100% acrylic double knitting. The yarn is durable and safe to put in the washing machine.

Hope you enjoy the pattern as much as I enjoyed designing it.

New Pattern Release- Hexagon Motif with Texture

Welcome to my second free pattern release, the pattern is available on dannycatcrochet.com and also on Ravelry.
For the past few weeks, I have been working on hexagons. For my latest pattern I have used Lion Brands Coboo DK cotton (51% cotton, 49% rayon from bamboo).
The cotton and rayon mix provides good stitch demarcation, is soft and has beautiful drape.
Although the colour is named mauve, it has more of a brown pink hue. I think you will agree that this shade provides great definition and matches perfectly with white.

The hook chosen (4mm) is the hook recommended on the yarn label. A larger 4.5 mm was initially tried, as I am conscious that crocheters often need to go up a hook size from the size recommended on the label. However, the tension was too loose, therefore I reverted back to a smaller size.

The design delivers an interesting hexagon, creating both visual interest and tactile feel. The sample could be used as part of a throw, cushion or decorative mat.
Hope you enjoy the pattern as much as I enjoyed designing it.
